今回は生け花偉人伝第五回目ということで、小原流二代目家元 小原 光雲（おはら こううん）先生をご紹介したいと思います。
生年月日 1880年12月19日
出生地 島根県松江市
小原光雲先生は1890年、父で小原流創始者の小原雲心先生に呼ばれ大阪に転居します。この雲心先生、只者ではありません。はじめ彫刻家を志しており余技として池坊で生け花を学んでいました。元々病弱であったこともあり途中から生け花の道へ進むことを決意。先生は先鋭的な感覚をお持ちだったらしく、‘盛り花‘と言われる広口の花器にまさに花を盛るように自由自在にいける生け花を考案されます。当時は伝統的な生け花界から辛辣な言葉も多々あったようです。しかし洋花を取り入れたことで時代を捉え、一般大衆から大きな支持を受けます。池坊攝津國生花会頭職に就任しました。
ここで盛り花の一例を。
光雲先生はその雲心先生のご長男にあたります。先生は当初雲心先生の勧めもあり商人を志しておられましたが、小原流の興隆もあり1904年25歳で華道家に転身されます。1916年雲心先生の死を受け、小原流家元を継承。ここから光雲先生の活躍が始まります。
先生はまず父、雲心先生が開発された‘盛り花‘の普及活動をおこないます。具体的には百貨店や公共施設で生け花展を開催しそこで小原流生け花として盛り花‘を宣伝しました。
また実践的な教授法の開発や表現技法の体系的な分類も推し進め、‘盛り花‘と‘瓶花‘の明確な手順・ルールを確立。『型』としての家元制度を新設します。
そして更には黒板とマイクを使用して大勢の人々への教授に対処する手法も開発しました。
池坊内では大阪花道協会長などを歴任し頭角を表します。そして今まで許されなかった池坊と自身の流派、小原流の二枚看板の両立を認めさせてしまうのです。これは言い換えるならば池坊と光雲先生が肩を並べたに等しいことで、生け花500年の歴史上前代未聞の大事件なのです。
私が今回、小原 光雲先生を取り上げたかった大きな理由は当時の‘いけばな‘界の古びた体質を、ビジネスマインドという新しい切り口で大いに刺激し、大いに混乱せしめ、そして大いに大衆に門戸を広げたことです。
彼は‘生け花‘界の豊臣 秀吉であったと私は思います。
今時代は大きく変わりデジタル技術の活用がどの分野においても必要不可欠となりました。もし今,光雲先生が生きておられたら何を仕掛けるのでしょうか？
